Footprints

Our planet is being made significant by the footprints of God  Think of the mountains, the mighty rivers, the flourishing crops, the birds of the air, and the great beyond which remains a mystery to us. Think of the last little miracle in your own life...
Gen. 1:1.... In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth.

After my father's death, some of us commented that his footprints were all over the farm--tool shed, barn, corncrib, up and down the corn and bean rows. Even though the rain and winds come, the seasons change, Dad's footprints will be there in one form or another.

Just as my dad's footprints are all over the farm, God's footprints are all over this Earth we call home. Seasons and generations pass; the world changes, but He is here, He was there. It belongs to him; we belong to him from the beginning and throughout eternity.

In our insecure and weak moments, remember that He is right beside you. If you reach out to him, He will hold your hand and walk with you.

For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isaiah 41:13

Most of you have read the following poem. It's worth repeating.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
- by Mary Stevenson

Prayer: Creator God, of all that is good and pure, I want to be close to you today. I know you are beside me, hand in hand if I so desire. I also know that you will carry me when the walking on this Earth becomes too hard. Amen.
